Everything predicts that it will be a season with excellent calçots, both in quantity, quality and health. The fields of calçots already present a very attractive aspect, of calçots that will be coming in several remittances, according to the dates in which they were planted.
The last Sunday of the month of January, the 29th, will be celebrated in Valls city of origin of the calçotada, La Gran Fiesta de La Calçotada 2017 and that will represent the beginning calçotadas season.
The Protected Geographical Indication Calçot de Valls, which houses some fifty producers of calçots (with label) from four regions: Alt Camp, Baix Camp, Tarragonès and Baix Penedès, this season plans to harvest between 10 and 12 million calçots. The remaining non-registered producers of the Calçot de Valls IGP can collect about 60 million more calçots, although they are not registered. In total more than 70 million calçots, an important production for the season that begins.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Valls, began promoting calçotades season, presenting the first bunches of onions tender season IGP Calçot de Valls, the stand of the Fair of Andorra La Vella, who held in the capital of the Principality of Andorra from 21 to 23 October.
From now on, everyone who wants to enjoy an authentic calçots, with the firsts tender spring onions of the season can bring to some of the typical restaurants of the area of Valls, who already have them available.
